چکیده

Arterial blood pressure waveforms contain rich pathophysiological information; hence receive much attention in cardiovascular health monitoring. To assist computerized analysis, an automatic delineator was proposed for the fiducial points of arterial blood pressure waveforms, namely their onsets, systolic peaks and dicrotic notches. The presented delineator characterizes arterial blood pressure waveforms in a beat-by-beat manner. It firstly seeks the pairs of inflection and zero-crossing points, and then utilizes combinatorial amplitude and interval criteria to select the onset and systolic peak. Once a new beat is settled, the delineator seeks the derivative backward to locate the dicrotic notch in the preceding beat. In a nutshell, the delineator is based on the combinatorial analysis of arterial blood pressure waveforms and their derivatives. Three open databases, with an additional subset database, were utilized for delineator validation and performance evaluation. In terms of beat detection, the delineator achieved an average error rate 1.14%, sensitivity 99.43% and positive predictivity 99.45%. As to dicrotic notch detection, it performedwell with an error rate 6.83%, sensitivity 96.53% and positive predictivity 96.64%. 2009 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Studying Changes of the Effective Radius in Blood Vessels after Exposure of Lower Extremities to Periodical Mechanical Vibrations

Background: Previous studies demonstrated a health improving effect in patients underwent an automatic vibratory massage taking 10 minutes. One of reasons that may explain a healing effect of the automatic massage is a stimulated increase in both blood circulation through vascular system and effective size of blood vessels. Objective: This paper aims to quantify a contribution of the auto...

Presentation of a Non-invasive Method of Estimating Arterial Stiffness by Modeling Blood Flow and Arterial Wall Based on the Determination of Elastic Module of Arterial Wall

Introduction: Arterial stiffness is an important predictor of cardiovascular risk. Several indices have been  introduced to estimate the arterial stiffness based on the changes in the brachial blood pressure. Since the  substitution  of  the  blood  pressure  changes  in  the  central  arteries  such  as  carotid  with  the  blood  pressure  changes in the brachial results in error in the blood...

Designing and Constructing an Optical System to measure Continuous and Cuffless Blood Pressure Using Two Pulse Signals

Introduction Blood pressure (BP) is one of the important vital signs that need to be monitored for personal healthcare. Arterial blood pressure is estimated from pulse transit time (PTT). This study uses two pulse sensors to get PTT. The aim of this study was to construct an optical system and to monitor blood pressure continuously and without cuff in people with different ages. Materials and M...

Noninvasive Radial Pressure Waveform Estimation by Transfer Functions Using Particle Swarm Optimization

-Waveforms of blood pressure contain very important signals of life. Although blood pressure can be continuously measured by an intra arterial catheter, this invasive method introduces risks to patients. Knowing that blood pressure can change in just a few seconds or minutes without a sensible feeling, the waveforms of blood pressure are capable of conveying substantial cardiovascular informati...
